Step by Step Windows 2000

Step by Step for Windows 2000 for windows XP please go here

Step 1 Your Physical Connection

Please check the Application Status Page and ensure your connection is complete first.

Make sure all your phones are filtered (this means every phone connected to your ADSL number in your premises). Notice the filters can be plugged in back to front so make sure they are on the right way around.

Step 2: Plug in your Modem view diagram here

Plug your modem into the phone line without a filter. For those that have a security system please go here before proceeding.

Step 3: Connecting your modem to your PC.

If you have problems or do not have a Billion modem please proceed as follows.

Start your PC if not already started.

Click the start button in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Go to settings and then go to Control Panel and left click it.

Double left click Network and Dial-up Connections and open the folder.

Double Click Local Area Connection, which should bring up a window.

If not, then please start again until you have this window.

Click the Properties tab

Connect to your modem using the steps below

Highlight the Internet Protocol and left click the properties tab and fill in the boxes with the settings below. Note: These are the settings for the Billion modem, if your modem is another brand then these settings may alter slightly. The aaNet helpdesk do not know all modem settings so please consult your modem documentation for these.

When you have filled in the boxes as above please left click ok.

Step 4: Configuring your modem

Open your browser window by left clicking on the MS Internet Explorer Icon.

This is the one pictured with the blue “e” and you will find it in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. Your browser should pop up something like the one below.

Enter the numbers in the address bar as pictured above and press enter.

This should bring up a dialogue box for you to enter your Modem username and password. You will need to consult your modem manual to know what this is.

Enter your username and password as stated in the manual that came with your modem and press enter.

You have now logged onto your modem and need to enter the username and password into the modem so the modem can log on to the aaNet network.

From here you need to read the welcome pack for details on how to do this as well as how to configure other aaNet services.

Not long now and you should be surfing!
